Where to Start When You Want to Buy A House

where to start when you want to buy a house

Through my experience as a Realtor, I've noticed how many people over-complicate the home buying process. The jump from renting to buying can seem daunting, and most people aren't sure where to start.

My business aims to simplify that process, and show house hunters everywhere that this does not need to be a stressful decision. Here are the first three things to do when you want to buy a house.

1. Talk to a Realtor

Find someone you trust and who appears to have great communication and organizational skills. A quick response is what you will want from a Realtor when a house comes on the market and you have to see it the first day.

I specialize in finding great Realtors across the country. Let me do the work for you (for free!) and put you in contact with a knowledgable agent. Just submit your email below and I will get in contact with you about the location you are looking to buy in.

2. Talk to a Lender

Once you speak with your Realtor, they will put you in contact with a lender. With a quick, ten minute conversation, the lender will listen to your income and debts and give you an idea of a comfortable price range. After that, they will confirm this number by running your credit and discussing possible loan options. See my previous post about how to buy a home with no down payment. They can also give you advice on how to build credit and save for your purchase, so speaking with a Realtor and Lender now, even if you are a year away from buying, is a great idea.

3. House Hunt

Once the lender tells you a comfortable price range and informs you of all of the loan options, you are free to house hunt with your Realtor! Your agent will start sending you listings that match what you are looking for and they will guide you through the rest of the buying process.

Home buying is not as daunting as it may seem. A conversation with a good Realtor will ease your mind and get you prepared for one of the most exciting steps in your life. If you are in Charlotte, NC, I'd love to be your Realtor. If not, ask me for a recommendation of who you should work with.
