Moving to Charlotte
So you're moving to Charlotte and not sure what to expect. It's a growing city, and perhaps your job brought you here, so what does Charlotte have to offer? Here are my favorite things about Charlotte, and tips on how you can take advantage of them!
1. Outdoors
With four distinct seasons, Charlotte offers a lot of options for outdoor activities. Visit the Whitewater Center for white water rafting, zip lining, canopy tours, great food and live music. Olympians train at this facility, so it's obviously a great place to spend a Saturday.

Go to Freedom Park or Renaissance Park for sand volleyball, tennis courts, baseball fields, soccer fields and walking trails. Lake Norman and Lake Wylie offer a lot of options for boaters. The Four Mile Creek Greenway is a great place to walk your dog or go for a run. Explore all of Charlotte’s trails here.
2. Shopping
Shopping in Charlotte has grown tremendously in the last few years. The Premium Outlets opened in southwest Charlotte and more recently Waverly opened in south Charlotte. South Park mall is always a great option in the heart of south Charlotte. Carolina Place mall is in Pineville, Concord Mills in Concord offers a large Bass Pro, and Birkdale Village in Huntersville is a popular place any evening of the week. Ballantyne and Blakeney also offer great shopping in this busy part of town.

3. Dining
As just mentioned, Ballantyne and Blakeney offer wonderful dining in their shopping centers. Southpark also has great dining options, while downtown Matthews has a few delicious restaurants amidst it's small-town feel. Birkdale Village in Huntersville has several restaurants in it's mixed-use development. Of course, uptown Charlotte has countless options for dining. One popular destination is VBGB, where you can find live music, sand volleyball courts, and an assortment of beer and other menu options. Optimist Hall is the newest food hall in NoDa.

4. Location
Perhaps my favorite thing about Charlotte is it's proximity to so many other cities! Just 2.5 hours from the mountains and 3.5 hours from the beach, Charlotte is the perfect distance between it all. Visit Boone or Asheville in the fall for a spectacular view of the leaves changing, or drive to Wrightsville Beach in Wilmington for a weekend beach getaway. Ask me where you should stay or what to do in Wilmington!

5. Living
Whether you are looking for a modern condo or a single family home near amenities, Charlotte has a lot of options. Ballantyne and Blakeney are great for developments near shopping and dining, and Southpark is an upscale area with many office spaces. SouthEnd is perfect for those who want to be in the center of it all. Matthews offers the ease of a quaint, small town, with the quick, twenty minute commute downtown. Fort Mill, SC offers lower taxes while still having the proximity to the city. There are so many more options, beyond what I can fit on the map!
